Metro Hotels yesterday launched a major campaign to assist the Queensland State Government in raising much needed funds through the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

The tragedy and devastation caused by the recent floods is a very personal matter for everyone at Metro Hotels according to the companies Chief Operations Officer, Mr George Bedwani.

“We have hotels in Ipswich, Brisbane and Gladstone,” explained Mr Bedwani, “but we were very fortunate as they were not affected by the flood waters, however a number of our staff lost their homes and many of their families and friends have also been affected in so many different ways.”

“And then we have our thousands of customers who live and work in the flood affected areas, many of them having lost everything.” he said.

Metro Hotels has instigated an international marketing campaign to encourage its customers, suppliers and business partners to make a donation through the official QLD Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

“The Queensland Government already has an excellent program in place to raise funds and Metro Hotels can provide immediate assistance by leveraging our extensive national and international networks to encourage donations through the Premiers Disaster Relief Appeal,” explained Mr Bedwani.

The appeal program is being promoted via the Metro Hotels and Paddy Maguires web sites, on more than 50 blogs, through Facebook, Twitter and many other online and social networking platforms. Each guest who checks in to a Metro Hotel, Apartment or Inn during the next 28 days will also receive information on how to donate via the Premiers Disaster Relief Appeal.

Details of the Appeal program and how to donate will also be emailed to the Metro Hotels database of over 250,000 people with direct links to the Queensland Governments official web site.
