International, to say Lisa Dobe is dedicated to her job would be an understatement.
The 26-year-old Bundamba resident is shaping up to be one of the best assets the prestigious hotel has had in its history, after her recent appointment as head chef.
Mrs Dobe has combined her culinary creativity with a boundless enthusiasm to produce a magnificently simple menu, boasting delicious meals for entrees, mains, deserts and 24-hour room service.
She said working this year’s Valentine’s Day was all part of the job, and that guests could expect nothing but the best if they chose to dine with her at Platform 9. “I am looking forward to new challenges every day,” Mrs Dobe said.
Hotel general manager Alex van Kersen said Mrs Dobe was a very talented lady, and would have no trouble growing into the role of an executive chef. “It is very important that we promote the people from Ipswich as much as possible in the hotel,” Mr van Kersen said. “We could have gone outside the region to find someone, but we have to develop the people from Ipswich, especially when they are talented. “That’s what it’s all about – giving more local people the opportunity to excel in positions like these. “Customer satisfaction and value for money are our top priority. Innovative and creative ideas have to come in, and with Lisa here we are on the right track.” The Valentine’s Day special features a three-course menu, including a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and free chocolates for the ladies for $75 per head.
