With the September school holidays just around the corner, the accommodation industry is urging Australian travellers to secure their bookings before everything is snapped up.
“Feedback from our 14 accommodation properties around Australia shows a large increase in bookings for the September school holiday period,” Metro Hotels Chief Operating Office George Bedwani said.
Mr Bedwani said the bookings are not only increasing but people are tending to book further out to ensure they get the days and dates they want. According to Mr Bedwani the days of getting a good deal at the last minute are declining rapidly and people have to be a bit more organised and plan ahead.
“If customers leave it until the last minute then it most likely that they will miss out or at the very least, they will be paying a premium price for their stay,” explained Mr Bedwani.
“Low-cost airlines and some really good deals offered by the hotels and resorts make it more affordable for families to take a break within Australia, and this helps boost the domestic tourism, at a time when the industry really needs the boost,” Mr Bedwani said.
Looking ahead to other peak holiday periods later in the year, including the Christmas-New Year period, Mr Bedwani suggests that Australian travellers plan ahead and book soon to avoid disappointment.
