Metro Hotel changes name to increase recognition
Media Release September 15, 2006
Metro Hotels has re-branded its Metro Apartments on Sussex as Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour, to maximise recognition of the apartments' prime location opposite Darling Harbour.
Mr Rajeev Dani, Metro Hotels' Chief Operating Officer anticipates the name change will generate greater awareness of the apartment hotel's proximity to Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay, as well as Sydney's CBD.
"Many interstate and international visitors don't know where Sussex Street is," Mr Dani said. "However, if you mention Darling Harbour, they immediately recognise their location."
"Feedback from clients indicates that this particular property is popular because of its proximity to Darling Harbour. By changing the name we are making it easier for visitors to find us, especially when searching for accommodation on the Internet."
Mr Dani said this recognition by interstate and international visitors is of paramount importance given the increased trend towards apartment accommodation by both business and leisure travellers in Australia.
Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour predominantly attracts long stay leisure visitors who appreciate fully self-contained accommodation. In addition, the Apartments are developing a growing reputation for conveniently located accommodation for people attending trade shows and exhibitions at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.
Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour is located on the city side of Darling Harbour, offering sweeping views back across the harbour from spacious, stylish, yet homely apartments. Situated on the corner of Sussex and Kings Streets, Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour offers 40 one-bedroom and spilt level apartments. The apartments are all fully serviced, with a fully equipped kitchen, as well as a washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities.
